Kissimmee Golf Club is a place to shake off the rust...

The Kissimmee Golf Club is a good track for the mid to high handicap golfer.

The club backs on to the local airport. This makes for some interesting scenery during your tee shots but at times can be somewhat distracting.

But at the price of these green fees – many sins can be forgiven ($35+)…

During a recent round I had it even through 17 and then made a quadruple bogey (ouch!) to end it. That left a bad taste in my mouth but I can’t blame the course because I can’t play out of a green side bunker!

Good thing that the club boasts a huge practice facility that you can use before and after your round – I spent some time here after the ‘quad’ but should have spent some time before the round as well.

The course is relatively short playing at just under 6,600 yards from the rear tee boxes. The fairways are quite generous and forgiving. So there are many holes that you can really put some heat on the ball and not worry about it too much because there’s not much to get you into trouble. (I like this!)

I also enjoyed hitting into these greens because they held very well. They definitely are on the small to medium side but none of them really have a tremendous amount of break. This helps you pour in the birdies and save those pars because even 25-footers are very makeable.

I suggest coming out to this course early during your trip to Florida to get some confidence and to get a good score under your belt before tackling some of the areas more difficult tracks.
