Kissimmee Fishing - Get the camera ready!

Kissimmee fishing will make for some heart-pounding action. For some big fishing action you’ll want to check out Kissimmee’s great selection of lakes. Some of the best fishing in all of the southern United States is found right here. Best of all – there are many are prime locations for huge largemouth bass. Other sport fish including the Barramundi are also available for a great thrill.

The ‘ol standby technique that works well in Kissimmee is to flip soft plastics in into heavy coverage and Carolina rigging against solid bottoms. But the Kissimmee fishing experience will allow you to try every technique you’ve got! From top water buzz baits to sit back and relax live bait fishing. All with a great chance of landing a trophy.

The best 3 areas to focus on…

Butler Chain of Lakes

This group of lakes has 11 lakes in total that cover a massive areas of just under 5000 acres. These lakes are special for top-water action as they are mainly clear with sand based bottoms. Bass fishermen really enjoy working the canals that connects the eleven lakes.

Spring spawning season is a great time to land that monster bass that you’ll talk about for years to come! Don’t forget the camera. The average size here is between 3 – 5 pounds, but the occasional monsters do lurk.

Other than bass you may even “catch” a glimpse of a celebrity or two…Tiger Woods calls this area home.

West Lake Toho (Tohopekaliga) and the Kissimmee Chain

Toho is king for trophy Largemouth. The Kissimmee Chain of Lakes has bodies of water ranging from 200 to 45,000 acres. In 2001 at a B.A.S.S. tournament one angler caught over 45 pounds for his limit of 5 fish. That average of 9 pounds per fish was incredible and really put this Kissimmee area on the map for international fisherman.

This has lead to the mystic of Toho – easily the areas most popular destination. Various types of structure and shallow waters allow for a number for different fishing techniques. My favorite technique here is to rig a relatively large shiner, relax and wait for the big one. One thing for sure here bigger lures and bait = bigger fish on Toho. Don’t be shy pull out lures that you would use for northern pike or musky when fishing for a Florida lunker.

Conway Chain of Lakes

Have you ever tried sight fishing? This chain of lakes provides a unique opportunity to see the fish you’re trying to catch. It is quite the thrill to entice the monster 8 pounder right on the surface. Your heart will skip a beat. One tip to remember is to not set the hook too quickly. You’ll need to give that fish some time. Patience here will pay off big time.
